Study Club #1 - Tuesday, 16 February 2021

Recent Graduates Study Club #5, 31 October 2017
Topic: Volunteering: Making a difference.

This Study Club will  consist of presentations and discussion on volunteering and the opportunities available.

Our speakers are:
Dr Helen McLean AM
Ms Margie Steffens OAM
Ms Dianne Travers

Dr Helen McLean - "10 Years of Volunteering in Ba Ria -Vung Tau Province Vietnam"
Volunteering abroad brings with it many opportunities including providing dental treatment to those who otherwise cannot access care, sharing your knowledge and teaching others and sponsoring projects to help those who need assistance. Such volunteering requires government approval, careful coordination and a willingness to work with the local community but at the same time it is an opportunity to learn about other cultures and develop new friendships.

Ms Margie Steffens - Community Outreach Dental Program (CODP)
Volunteering, Philanthropy and Mentoring are all within reach here in our own back-yard! It is not always possible for people to travel overseas, however there are many ways you can be involved here in Adelaide.
The Community Outreach Dental Program offers support for many people who cannot access conventional dental services through the generosity of dental professionals and students.

Ms Dianne Travers - Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF), SA/TAS Coordinator
What is the Foundation, who it helps and how you can get involved.

Due to the format of this Study Club it will  be delivered as seminar (not a webinar). We encourage you to attend this presentation in person and also use it as an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Study Clubs are for dentists who graduated within the last ten years but all ADASA member dentists are welcome to register. BDS 5 Student members are also welcome to register to attend.

This is an ADASA member only event and you must be registered to attend.
This Study Club will offer approximately 1.5- 2 hours of CPD. Refreshments will be provided on arrival. Registration from 6pm with the presentations to start at 6.30pm.
