Clinic to court - how to prevent the journey was the theme for our Risk Management seminar held on Friday, 14 May at the Stamford Grand Glenelg. The overall message from the day was the importance of effective and clear communication.

The Review Committee who were instrumental in putting this seminar together, presented information and tips to manage risk & what to do when things don’t go to plan. Topics covered included: what to do when you get a complaint, the most common complaints, when to refer, and the new patient experience (when seeing a specialist).

The full day seminar, which was well attended, also included presentations from our business partners Guild insurance and Meridian Lawyers. We were fortunate that Craig Hockley, Head of Marketing at Guild Insurance kindly stepped in at the last minute when Christie Boucher, Risk Services Manager was unable to attend. Lawyer Kelly Dell’Oro, Principal at Meridian Lawyers presented real life cases that she has been involved in. CRO Jim Ball spoke about his role at and what happens when a complaint comes to the ADASA.

The day concluded with an open forum with all presenters taking questions from the audience. We would like to acknowledge and thank our speakers and Review Committee members Janet Scott (chair), Robert Stewart, Stephen Carapetis, Erika Vinczer and Joshua Tirrell.  Thank you to Darren Tomlinson from BOQ Specialist for supporting this event, along with Guild Insurance and Meridian Lawyers.

Lastly special thank you to our seminar emcee Bradley Abraham.
