Seminar Overview
This seminar will discuss recent developments in infection control and their practical implementation in dental practice. The course will cover:

- A summary of recent changes in guidelines and standards 
- An update on emerging changes during 2022  - An update on ADA resources 
- ADA Risk Management principles for dentistry during the COVID-19 pandemic - October 2021, ADA Self-Assessment Tool, ADA Infection Control Practical Guide
- Applying the chain of infection and risk assessment to special situations - including pandemics of coronaviruses and influenza viruses.
- Updates on best practice for Hand hygiene and Environmental cleaning.
- Preventing the spread of contamination
- The importance of high volume evacuation for reducing the spread of aerosols
- Evidence supporting pre-procedural rinses and dental dam
- Staff exclusion and patient care deferrals
- Managing water quality for dental practice
- Common errors in instrument reprocessing and how to prevent them
- Applying quality assurance measures to instrument cleaning and sterilising
- Updates on washer disinfectors and low temperature sterilisation
- Enhancements in dental clinic design, including surfaces and airflow

Our key note speaker is Emeritus Professor Laurence Walsh BDSc, PhD, DDSc, GCEd, FRACDS, FFOP(RCPA), FIADFE, FICD, FADI, FPFA, AO

Emeritus Professor Laurence J. Walsh AO is a specialist in special needs dentistry who is based in Brisbane, where he has served for 37 years on the academic staff of the University of Queensland School of Dentistry, including 21 years as Professor of Dental Science and 10 years as the Head of School. 
Since retiring in December 2020, Laurie has remained active in postgraduate teaching and in supervising over 15 research students. Laurie has been teaching microbiology and infection control at postgraduate level for over 20 years and has published extensively in these fields. 
He remains active in hands-on bench research work. Laurie has served as on the ADA Infection Control Committee for 23 years, including 7 years as its chair, and has represented dentistry on multiple committees of Standards Australia and other bodies.

Terms and Conditions of Registration

- Registration for events can be cancelled seven (7) days prior to the event for a full refund.
- No refund will be available for cancellation within the seven (7) day period.
- Persons may substitute attendees at any time.  We reserve the right to charge an additional gap fee should the Membership status of the substitute vary to that of the original registrant.
- It is the responsibility of the registrant to ensure all registration details are correct – the appropriate fees are paid – and all dietary requirements are completed where required.
- A registration is only fully valid once payment has been received.
- Unpaid registrations may be cancelled, and places offered to other Members, if the registration is not paid in full seven (7) days prior to the event.

Photography
- Photographs are occasionally taken of events for the purpose of promotion of future events.  This registration grants us permission to use any images taken.
- Registrants who do not wish their image to be taken must notify our Event Coordinator immediately prior to the commencement of the event on the day.
