The evening will include a Q&A panel discussion and is presented by The Environmental and Sustainability Committee.

Topics and speakers:

What about "Achieving Carbon Neutrality'" - pathways to a Net Zero future
Speaker -
Ms Chelsea Fortuna, Project Engineer, The Energy Project (please note the change in speaker)

Chelsea will provide members with a brief overview of the current climate science, explain what needs to be done to achieve Net Zero by 2050 (or earlier) and look at our progress on an economy wide basis in South Australia.

She will then explain what Carbon Neutral looks like for Dental practices. What can we do that will make a difference? What are the opportunities and pathways for Dental Practitioners to become Carbon Neutral businesses.

Waste Practice
Speaker - Mr Brian Johnston, (formerly) Environmental Services Officer, KESAB.

All businesses produce waste and dental practices are no exception. Most businesses are now trying to do the right thing and recycle what they can and buying things that are better for the environment. The growing number of different material types make this job trickier than ever and with so many different people in the business being involved in handling the waste how can we get it right?

This presentation will focus on the practical tips of how you can get systems in place and people on board to start reducing the amount of waste your practice produces. We’ll also take a dive into the green wash and how you can avoid being tricked by clever advertising.

Why is Environmental Sustainability important?
Speaker - Dr Jasper Lee, Chair, Environmental and Sustainability Committee.
